Fantastic Kepi of the Horse Land Artillery Regiment, traditionally known as the "Voloire"; it is the current artillery component of the Pozzuolo del Friuli Cavalry Brigade of the Italian Army.

Interesting fact: The unit is the heir and direct successor to the history and traditions of the "Horse Batteries," more commonly known as Volòire, established in 1831, and those of the 3rd Celere Artillery Regiment. Regimental commanders also traditionally hold the title "Commander of the Horse Batteries," preceded by the ordinal number in uninterrupted succession since the formation of the specialty.

Horse artillery is a specialty of artillery that emerged in the second half of the 18th century, largely thanks to the intuitions of Frederick the Great, and was later refined thanks to developments in military technology during the Napoleonic Wars. Horse batteries, highly mobile artillery units, were used to rapidly support cavalry units. They were equipped with lightweight guns and all crews were mounted on horseback, characteristics that ensured remarkable speed of movement and deployment. Typical of horse artillery was to take up positions at a gallop a few meters from enemy lines, upon which they quickly opened grapeshot fire (also known as artillery charges).
