In China, the term ''Dao'' refers to any type of single-edged sword.

In a country as large as China with such a vast history, the varieties and forms of the Dao are innumerable.

This Oxtail Dao is often referred to as the ''Kung Fu sword'' or ''Chinese broadsword'' and is characterized by a wide, thick blade, in China it is called Niuweidao ('Oxtail'' saber).

This model appears to have never seen military use, in fact although it was one of the main types of Dao preferred by farmers and civilians, the military has always preferred the thinner and lighter Dao such as Liuyedao and Yanmaodao.

Unlike most models found on the Internet, this model forged by Hanwei is not a simple theatrical or scenic weapon, but is a real "battle-ready" sword as you might have wielded at the time, very agile and well-balanced.

The blade is made of 1566 high carbon steel, while the guard, grip and pommel are made of brass.

The handle is wrapped in black faux stingray leather and covered with a tightly knotted black nylon cord for a firm, secure, and comfortable grip.

The scabbard is made of varnished wood, while the fittings are made of brass.
