Fun fact: The “Felix Dzerzhinsky Reg. Guards” was the paramilitary wing of the Ministry of State Security, aka the infamous Stasi.
The regiment was an elite motorized infantry unit under the direct command of the Stasi, tasked with protecting German government facilities and personnel. The regiment consisted of experienced and ideologically reliable men, separate from the National People's Army, who could be deployed to quell rebellion and disorder.
